Having worked at Settle for 15 years, I've had the opportunity to move across different areas within the housing team where I hained most of my experience. This has given me the confidence to step up to my current role. I believe there's a right time for everyone to take the next step in their careers. For me, the great people and culture at settle are the most important factors, outweighing the specifics of any role I've held.

Joining us
Our recruitment process is designed to be open, engaging, and focused on what really matters—finding people who share our values and want to make a difference. When we meet candidates, we’re not just looking at competencies and skills; we want to understand who they are, what drives them, and how they align with our commitment to putting residents first.
Once a new colleague joins Settle, they take part in our award-winning Housewarming induction week. This is more than just an introduction—it’s a chance to connect with a wide range of colleagues and teams, learn about the housing sector, and see firsthand how we support residents. It’s an exciting, welcoming start to life at Settle, ensuring that every new colleague feels informed, inspired, and ready to make an impact.

From the moment I walked in everyone was so friendly and accommodating, you couldn’t have done more to make us feel comfortable and valued. Whilst visiting all the different departments, and speaking with several colleagues, what really stood out to me was how much people cared about their individual roles and your values as a whole.

Colleague Voices
At Settle, we we know that our people are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that what makes working at settle different is our commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive, and empowering environment where everyone can thrive. Just as we put residents first, we ensure that our colleagues feel heard, valued, and respected. That’s why we have a number of colleague forums dedicated to wellbeing, diversity, and inclusion, as well as a space where everyone has a voice in key business decisions. We know that every colleague brings something unique, and we are committed to fostering a workplace where individuality is celebrated, and everyone can be their best.
An inclusive employer
As an employer of over 300 people, we are committed to the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion as outlined below and we only partner with organisations and contractors who feel the same way.
We strive for equality
We pursue fairness to ensure that no one is treated less favourably because of who they are. We challenge discrimination and remove barriers, so everyone has equal access to our services and equal opportunities to succeed.
We embrace diversity
We recognise, respect and celebrate each other’s differences because they make us stronger. We know diversity of thought and experience helps us better reflect, understand and serve the communities in which we work.
We champion inclusion
We create an environment where everyone feels welcome and free to be their true selves. We want all colleagues to feel a sense of belonging at settle, to know they have a voice and to contribute with confidence.

Our commitment to giving back to our local community
We believe that being part of the community means truly getting involved and making a difference. That’s why we take the time to connect with residents where they are, through initiatives like our Big Door Knocks and Neighbourhood Action Weeks, where we listen, learn, and take action to improve local areas together.
We know that small changes can have a big impact, and every colleague plays a part in this. That’s why each year, every colleague gets two Giving Something Back days to volunteer and support local projects, whether it’s improving outdoor spaces, helping community groups, or providing practical support to those who need it most. Because for us, community isn’t just where we work—it’s who we are.
Each year, we choose a Charity of the Year from our local community, reflecting our commitment to making a real difference beyond housing. Throughout the year, we come together to support this cause, running fundraising events to raise money and awareness.

Over a year into my apprenticeship and I have gained so much knowledge of the housing sector and a clearer understanding of where I would like to be when I complete my apprenticeship later this year. My confidence has grown and the support that I've received from each team at Settle has been invaluable. They have provided me with the help and knowledge that I need to continue to complete my studies and take the next steps in my career.

Being an apprentice for Settle has been an incredible experience that has completely transformed my life. From day one, I’ve been immersed in a world of hands-on learning and endless possibilities. It’s not like your typical classroom setting—here, I get to roll up my sleeves and dive right into the action. What makes apprenticeship so amazing is the chance to work alongside experienced professionals who are eager to share their knowledge. They’ve become more than just mentors, they’re like family. They’ve shown me the ropes, taught me valuable skills, and boosted my confidence every step of the way.
