Here at Settle we are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join us for a 12 month fixed term contract.
Working as part of the management team you will be responsible for the financial and commercial management of repairs, estate and voids, ensuring cost control, accurate valuations, contract compliance and value for money.
Outline of Key Responsibilities...
You will:
- Work with our teams to ensure the correct application of SOR codes to works where applicable
- Develop suitable commercial reporting and contract management procedures
- Analyse contractor applications for payment, tracking costs, and ensuring contractual compliance across our responsive and planned works.
- Identify cost trends, forecasting variances, and producing regular reports that inform budget holders and senior leadership.
- Working closely with Housing Maintenance Partners and the wider Repairs team to identify efficiencies, validate works, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Work with the Repairs Manager in building budgets, ensuring financial obligations are met.
- Monitoring KPIs and performance data to track contract health and proactively address risks or underperformance.
- Act as a financial critical friend – providing insight, constructive challenge, and clear reporting to support effective delivery.
We are looking for someone who has...
- Education: HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quantity surveying or commercial management, with experience in social housing ideally covering repairs and maintenance.
Able to:
- Develop commercial procedure within a social housing environment.
- Demonstrate a solid knowledge of NHF Schedule of Rates
- Manage budgets, reduce cost, and ensure financial accountability.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to resolve disputes effectively.
- Utilise excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Display proficiency in industry-standard software.
